The Oaks Theater first opened its doors in November 18, 1938. At the time, it was called “The Jewel of Oakmont” and brought joy through entertainment for people of all ages.

For most of its history the theater has only operated as a movie theater but now this historic theater is a modern venue for all types of events such as live music, improv comedy, live theater, lectures, games, and more.

Shining Bright

The single screen is still in operation showing family movies, cult classics as well as independent films. And while you enjoy your movie you can have a specialty drink, beer and some light snacks at a table or the 360° bar.

The theater offers classic movie style buttered popcorn and theater style candy alongside an updated food menu with items like flatbreads and wraps. The pralinator fills the Art Deco style theater with the aroma of cinnamon frosted almonds and pecans.

Modernization

The marquee has been restored to its former grandeur. The neon lights that were added to the marquee in the 70s have been removed and replaced with individual bulbs, adding animation so they chase and flash, the way they did decades ago.

Inside the auditorium the illuminated oak leaves on the walls originally hung at Oakmont Country Club but, at The Oaks they have been given an art deco facelift.

The Oaks boasts 2 full service bars, a 20 seat lounge at a 360° bar and platform table seating inside the auditorium. The theater is able to be rented for parties, events and weddings.

About the Owners

Tony Serrao, Meg Burkardt and Marc Serrao, have transformed the historic Oaks Theater into a curated live entertainment venue in Oakmont.

Meg and Marc grew up in the area and have owned the theater for over 20 years. They decided to add another owner with some fresh ideas. Tony, Marc’s son, worked at the theater as a teenager, was added to the ownership in 2015 and works closely with the managers coming up with new ideas to keep all generations interested in the venue.

The owners hoped to preserve a very special place in the heart of the Oakmont business district. For 80 years this theater has been known as the “Jewel of Oakmont.”   They’re confident that young and old alike will continue, for many years to come, to enjoy entertainment at The Oaks!

We Are…

…a neighborhood venue, ensuring diversity and balance through programming while striving to be irresistible to our community and an inspiration to the entertainment industry.
