The New PURE GOLD

With a music career spanning four decades, Pure Gold performs material from the '50s, '60s and '70s as well as a blend of blues, standards and original material to highlight their unique talent and range.

Starting in 1978 as Acapella Gold, they quickly gained popularity. After a few successful years they decided to add a band and name the group Pure Gold. After 43 years of performing and sharing the stage with many music legends such as Aretha Franklin, Frankie Valli, Chuck Berry, Smokey Robinson, the Four Tops, The Temptations and the Isley Brothers to name a few, Pure Gold decided to retire, and their fans were sad to see this legendary group perform its final show in December 2021. With permission from the group's lifelong manager, Henry DeLuca, an agreement was made to continue under new management with some new personnel and a slightly modified name: The New PURE GOLD. We want to thank all of our fans who have supported us and continue to support us throughout the years.

So get ready, everyone, for the pride of Pittsburgh:  The New PURE GOLD - Keeping the Oldies Alive.

Who's Bad The Ultimate Michael Jackson Experience

Doors 6:30pm/ Show 7:30pm

$30 Reserved Seating

$140 Table seating for 4 guests

Who’s Bad’s live performance is an unrivaled celebration of pop music’s one true King. Their power-packed performance of Michael Jackson’s expansive catalog has ignited crowds on every continent and can only be described as a jaw-dropping, musical must-see. As the longest-running Michael Jackson tribute band, and the only one to predate his untimely passing, Who’s Bad has awed even the skeptics, selling out nearly 50 venues.

Who’s Bad has earned its name by paying studious attention to Michael Jackson’s every original groove and gravity-defying dance move, boasting over 100 years of professional experience and a team of dancers with resumes that include Broadway productions such as Phantom of the Opera. Vamsi Tadepalli (Who’sBad founder, composer, and saxophonist) assembled a cast of North Carolina’s premiere musicians and, from Who’s Bad’s inception, believed in the band’s boundless possibilities. The velvety vocals and pinpoint choreography of frontmen Joseph Bell and Taalib York’s combined with the six-piece band’s synchronized dance routines, blaring horns and down-deep rhythms, results in a performance delivered withsoul and precision superseded by no one but the King himself. They’ve shared stages with the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, The Backstreet Boys, The Four Tops, Boys II Men, and hip hop superstar, Pitbull. Captivated fans include LIVENATION’s Anthony Nicolaidis who calls Who’s Bad, “the real deal,” and Michael Jackson’s longtime friend and manager Frank DiLeo who proclaimed after Who’s Bad show in Nashville, TN, “the show was great....Michael would have been proud!”

Whether you idolized the Jackson 5, fell in love to Human Nature, or learned to moonwalk to Billie Jean, Who’s Bad is THE ULTIMATE music-and-dance driven Michael Jackson homage. This band of professionals relentlessly elevate the legacy of pop music’s King, always pushing themselves to be more precise, to raise the level of excitement and awe, while embodying Michael Jackson’s mission to bring people together of all races, genders, and cultures through music. As the curtain opens on a Who’s Bad performance, every MJ fan feels the adrenaline, screams at the sight of that unmistakable silhouette, and succumbs to a surefire Michael Jackson sing-along. The energy is purely magnetic, the musicianship is first-rate, the dance moves deftly inspired. Who’s Bad is a tribute befitting a King and their high-octane execution of MJ’s music and dance has catapulted them to the exclusive rank of Ultimate!

Physical Graffiti
: In Its Entirety

Physical Graffiti, the epic double-album released by Led Zeppelin in February 1975, is perhaps the most beloved and magical of all of their recordings. Simply put, it is the album EVERYONE wants to hear. Lez Zeppelin presents Physical Graffiti from start to finish in all of its majesty and diversity to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of its release. From the mysticism of Kashmir to the rockin’ funk of Trampled Underfoot to the progressive elegance of Ten Years Gone, Lez Zeppelin delivers passionate, note-for-note renditions of all 15-songs. Accompanied by a provocative and uniquely curated multimedia presentation, this full-length, immersive experience digs deep into the heart and soul of one of rock’s greatest albums.

Lez Zeppelin-All Girls. All Zeppelin.

Lez Zeppelin is a phenomenon. Since their formation in 2004, the group has stunned audiences all over the world with the musicianship, passion and gender-bending audacity they bring to the music of Led Zeppelin. Unlike  the typical “tribute band” Lez Zeppelin does not seek to imitate. Rather, they are a she-incarnation of the original. With swagger, intensity and virtuosity, these four women cover the entire canon, performing hits, deep tracks, epic compositions and acoustic numbers with utmost authenticity, as if they’d written the music themselves. Jimmy Page described it best after attending a Lez Zeppelin show in London: “They played the Led Zeppelin music with an extraordinary sensuality and an energy and passion that highlighted their superb musicianship.”

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Doors 8 pm / Show 9 pm

$15 Theater Seating

Prop Kit included in ticket!

Let’s do the time warp again with this cult classic that takes the audience into the twisted world of Dr. Frank-n-Furter, aka the “Sweet Transvestite from Transylvania”. A mild-mannered newly engaged couple gets stranded in the rain during a road trip. Thankfully, they find shelter — but they learn too late that there is nothing safe and serene at Frank-n-Furter’s castle.

The Junior Chamber of Commerce Players (JCCP) is Pittsburgh’s official Rocky Horror Picture Show shadowcast. The cast was created in May of 1978 and has grown to be known throughout the local community and beyond. They do many events in the Pittsburgh area but call The Hollywood Theater home. The cast was featured in the book and movie of “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky. The JCCP hosted the national Rocky Horror Picture Show convention in 2018 and will be hosting it again in 2024. You can find all information about the JCCP at jccppgh.com or @jccppgh on social media.

It is said Rocky Horror is the first and only true audience participation movie. Therefore, props are allowed and costumes are strongly encouraged! Below is a specific list of props which will be allowed at The Oaks Theater along with theater rules & regulations.

You must be at least 17 years old or accompanied by a parent or guardian (age 21 or older) to attend

This movie is all about participation but we also want to make sure the theater isn’t damaged, wrecked, or burned down (under NO circumstances should an open flame ever be used within the Oaks Theater).  People are absolutely encouraged to dress up and have fun, but there are just a few things we cannot and will not allow and they are listed below as well as when to use them. Another thing we ask is to please not throw things at the screen.

Here’s your play-by-play of when to use your props, as well as the things that are not allowed:

Balloon
Is it allowed?  Yes
When to use: During the song “Science Fiction Double Feature”, pop at the “When worlds collide” lyric.

Rice
Is it allowed? No – Not included in the kit and not allowed. Sorry rice can get slippery, it’s messy, and we don’t want rodents. There’s a reason people don’t throw rice at weddings anymore.
When to use: At the beginning of the film when the wedding guests exit the church.

Large “J”-“A”-“N”-“E”-“T” cards
Is it allowed?  Yes, we just didn’t include it since it takes some decent coordination between people to pull off. You’re welcome to do it if you feel like your four friends can spell.
When to use: During the song “Dammit Janet” when Brad says Janet’s name, and when spells out Janet’s name, each card is held up as he spells it. Some people also write “Oh” “B”-“R”-“A”-“D” on the back of them and use them then.

Water Guns
Is it allowed?  No, sorry we’re not a friend of wet floors, seats, etc..
When this normally happens: During the song There’s a Light (Over at the Frankenstein Place), while they are walking through the rain

Glow Stick / flashlight
Is it allowed?  Yes (NO Lighters, matches, flammables due to fire code restrictions). Get creative and download a concert lighter app on your phone. Those are much less flammable!
When to use: During the song There’s a Light (Over at the Frankenstein Place), while the “There’s a Light” chorus is playing. Do this during the chorus and when they say “in the darkness” lower it.

Rubber Glove
Is it allowed?   Yes
When to use: During Frank’s speech at the tank when he puts on the gloves, stretches and snaps them. He does this three times and try to snap them at the same time!

Noisemakers
Is it allowed?  Yes
When to use: During the “Lab” scene, when the Transylvanian Guests use their noisemakers at the end of the creation speech.

Confetti
Is it allowed?   No
When to use: At the end of the “Lab” scene when the wedding march is being played when they head to the bedroom.

Toilet Paper
Is it allowed?   Yes
When to use:  When Dr. Scott makes his entrance and Brad exclaims “Great Scott!”. Get it? Like Scotts toilet paper? Yeah, that’s why people do it. Wait to toss it when Dr. Scott crashes through the wall. By the time Dr. Scott hits the Transducer wall and Frank has his leg on the chair it’s time to stop tossing.

Party Hat
Is it allowed?   Yes
When to use: During dinner, Frank will put on his party hat, and you should too. It’s a party after all and you should be dressed appropriately ????

Toast
Is it allowed? : No. Sorry it’s a pun and I love puns but your mom taught you better than to toss food. We’d rather not have crumbs everywhere either.
When this normally happens: During dinner after Frank is done carving, he will lift his class and proclaim “a toast”.

Newspaper
Is it allowed? : Yes
When to use: When Brad and Janet are caught in the storm, Janet covers her head with a newspaper, and you should do the same.

Bell
Is it allowed?  Yes, if you didn’t bring a bell you can use your keys also. However it doesn’t look as cool.
When to use: When Frank is chasing Janet after dinner and asks the musical question “did you hear a bell ring?” during the song “Planet Schmanet”

Sponge
Is it allowed?   Yes
When to use: When Columbia is doing her “bitch out” speech and says to Frank, “you’re like a sponge!”

Cards
Is it allowed?   Yes
When to use: After floor show, when Frank is doing his solo number and sits down and sings the line “cards for sorrow, cards for pain”. Make it rain!

Rope
Is it allowed?  Yes.
When to use: When the rope falls from the rigging after Riff finishes shooting.

Hot Dog and Prunes
Is it allowed?   Please, please, please DON’T.
People sometimes throw these anytime they’re mentioned. It’s messy, stains things, and nobody wants to get hit with a prune or a hot dog for that matter.

We want this showing to be as enjoyable as possible so please respect other guests and our theater. Guests who bring in props not listed above and fail to adhere to the instructions above will be asked to leave.

3rd Annual Adam J. Garvin Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser

This event will be held in honor of Adam Garvin, who was tragically killed on his motorcycle by a careless driver in August 2021. Adam was a 2019 honors graduate of Plum high school and Mustang football team captain. He was pursuing his engineering degree at the University of Pittsburgh at the time this tragedy occurred. The memorial scholarship was set up to annually award deserving Plum high school seniors some financial assistance toward further education in his memory.

Along with being a motorcycle enthusiast, Adam was also a self-taught guitarist and loved music of all kinds. This band night event featuring Sourmash, along with promoting awareness to watch for motorcycles seemed a fitting choice to raise money for the scholarship fund. There will be basket raffles and 50/50 drawing. The Oaks theater also offers their full snacks and bar menu that are available for purchase during the event.

Come out and enjoy this special evening of SourMash music, and classic rock favorites and supporting this worthy cause.

SourMash  - An award-winning rock act hailing from Western Pennsylvania. Since it’s inception in 2010, the act is become a formidable, original rock ‘n’ roll band, while staying grounded in their roots of guitar driven southern and classic rock. Their music has been heard worldwide in film, TV, sales and streaming services as well as SiriusXM and jukeboxes across the country. In recent years, SourMash won entertainer of the year 2021, duo/group of the year 2022, and vocalist of the year 2022  at the Josie music awards - the world‘s largest awards organization for independent artists.
